Vintage Window Treatments

Several weeks ago there was a “Threadfest” sponsored by a senior center here. Apparently they do it a couple of times a year – this was the first time I knew about it. It’s all donated fabric and notions that are sold at deeply discounted prices and used as a fund-raiser for the center. It. Was. Awesome.

I do tend to get a little overwhelmed at places like this – and this day was no different… I kind of freeze and can’t remember what I need or want or why I’m there…but once I finally started just putting some things in my little basket, I scored some great deals.

You’ll be seeing bits and pieces of my purchases on this blog. First off is this 108″ vintage linen tablecloth to embroider. I don’t embroider…nor do I serve meals on linen table cloths… so I was very excited to use the lovely fabric to make some new window treatments for our little dining area.

Snapshot of the fabric...can you see the faint light blue embroidery pattern?

Here is a before picture of my dining area. The drapes were not bad – but the room is small and it felt way too closed in and dark. We also just sold the large dining table that was a hand-me-down that we just didn’t have room for.

After!

Ahhh, with the new roman blinds and the smaller table in here – it feels like a new room and I’m loving it. Thank you, ThreadFest!
