Alfresco Bowl Covers

I saw these posted on one of all of our favorite blogs – Sew Mama Sew.  I love them! The author of the tutorial calls them Alfresco Bowl Covers. Thanks to the awesome tutorial – I’ve made some of my own to give as gifts.  These are used to cover your dishes outside to keep the flies, etc. off. I did kind of “make them my own” with a few changes.

  • I chose to use little bolts with ribbons sewn through instead of beads just because I wanted a little more weight on the corners. They aren’t removable – but they’re secure enough that I’m not worried about washing, etc.
  • I also used a vinyl backing so that they can be wiped clean…and you don’t have to worry about throwing them in the washer (although I’m sure it’s fine). Plus, this just seems more practical.
  • I made sets of three – think big salad, chips and dip?

I love the fabric. It’s Gypsy Fabric by Felicity Miller. SO happy, isn’t it?
